This Monastery houses the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption and the Trinity Cathedral, which is considered the seat of the Russian Orthodox church.
Sergeyev-Posad is about 60 kilometers from Moscow, a day trip best done with a tour group. This monastery, founded circa 1337, was the largest of the time, and has great historical significance. It is especially worth visiting because of the beautiful blue and gold domed Cathedral of the Assumption and the gold domed Trinity Cathedral, as well as a wealth of other distinctive structures such as the 87 meter tall bell tower.
