The city settled by the "besenyõ" tribe, after a diploma written in 1334, was the property of the Zedregi family. The city was an important customs place. At the Turkish era, this place was called "Battyán Párkány". At a guess the tower was bulit at these times for toll. Evlija Cselebi said that the army of Szulejman destroyed the tower at 1543. But it was rebuilt after. They built a plankcastle around it too. 47 people guarded the castle in 1609 and 59 in 1628-29. After the turkish military left the country, the castle was destroyed, and the tower become a granary.
Search the Kula square in the city, what is basically a small street.
Have a nice walk!
