Wow!
Well, another GAGAFAP is in the books!

Linda and I would like to thank each and every GAGAFAPer for making the event a tremendous success!  A little early morning rain didn't dampen the spirits of this group!

The crowd grew quickly, with everyone anxious to hit the trails.  Waypoints were downloaded,  games were explained, cache sheets were passed out.  Then, like bees headed for nectar, the cachers buzzed off in every direction.   Lunchtime came and went, with most folks coming back for a bite to eat before heading back out to search for more Tupperware.

4:00 pm brought everyone back to the picnic area for prize draws, quilt draws, and the mandatory group photo.

Due to my lack of concentration, I forgot to include my Birdhouse cache containers on the prize table.  This turned out OK though, because we ended up auctioning them off to four cachers.  The NINETY DOLLARS collected will be sent to the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.

Looking forward to doing it all again next year.  I've narrowed the location to two places....SECRET for now!

Thank You
First of all, a big Thanks to everybody for making the day a success.  I'd have looked pretty dumb sitting under the picnic shelter all by myself!

Thanks to everybody who brought along a prize.  Just as Geocaching isn't about the numbers, a picnic isn't about prizes... but they ARE nice to have!  Thanks for helping.

Thanks to everybody for keeping the picnic area clean.  Every last piece of trash was picked up and deposited in the garbage cans!  Good work!

Thanks to TOMTEC for setting up the Poker Run event cache.  Thanks also to TOMTEC for helping to get all the waypoint coordinates into everyone's GPS receivers.

Thanks to Lynx1 and the Hunter, Team Speed, Hard Oiler, and Nozzletime for their individual cache contributions.

Thanks to everyone who took pictures, and passed them along via email.

Thanks to Olar for helping with the early morning setup in the picnic area.  And for unwrapping the bungee cords that got tangled in my bicycle gears (don't ask).  AND for going into Fergus to bring me coffee!!!

Thanks to Lynx1 and the Hunter for setting up the P.A. system, and for providing some much appreciated coffee.

Thanks to DxChallenged (and family of course) for making and donating the beautiful GAGAFAP signature quilt.  I hope everybody had a chance to sign it!

Thanks to Yorelken's wife Mary for making the beautiful Plaque for DxChallenged.

Thanks to the Ridgerunners for setting up and running the other BBQ.

Thanks to Lynx1 and the Hunter for running the Travel Bug Hotel.  47 bugs, all in one place!

Thanks to everyone who dropped some money into my GAGAFAP Donation bucket to help cover the expenses.

Thanks to Hard Oiler and to Olar for volunteering to head off across the Dam (again) to collect my various cache containers at the end of the day.

Thanks to everyone for signing the GAGAFAP II log book.

If I've missed anybody, I apologize.  Your contributions are all appreciated!

One last Thank-You.  And this is a really BIG one!  To Linda
- for putting up with my "attention to detail" on this little project.
- for travelling back and forth to Belwood with me a dozen or so times.
- for teaching me to sew.
- for setting up the piñata for the Geocaching Kids
- for cooking the burgers and dogs
- for telling me that people will still come, even if it rains!
- and, for telling me that it's OK if I want to do it all again next year!

    WOW!!!!

It was a great day, faces to names, food, prizes, and oh yeah, CACHES! Found 27 caches with Cheeryo's and bumped into others once in a while. Thanx to Trimblestrek for some hair raising and sneaky cache placements. The first answer that came to mind for 'What is the pole for?' was 'A cache hiding spot' (at the top!). All in all, I had a fun filled day and was glad I came. Well done Trimblestrek!

Congratulations to everyone involved in this event. I had a fabulous day and have a few prizes to show for it. I met some great new people and revisited a few more. I couldn't imagine how the day would go with close to 100 crazy geocachers running around in the woods but it worked out just fine (especially when I didn't have to climb any trees!) Thanks to everyone for making this a very memorable day. :)

    ABBAfan#1
TT you did an amazing job in getting this pulled together and the 25 stage cache was just about as good as a geocache can get (I'm leaving some room for GAGAFAP III ).

Thanks also goes to the other great geocachers for your contributions of prizes and help with the day's set up. I know there were lots of people helping out so I won't even start to name everyone. It was great to meet up with other keen cache hunters. Isn't geocaching so much fun.

    Algonquin Bound
What an absolutely wonderful day! The weather could not have been more cooperative and all of the people I met were just great! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and organization, Larry & Linda (TrimblesTrek). It was great! Okay... 'fess up time. Who else is so addicted they had to do another cache on the way home from GAGAFAP? Surely not just me!

    Bear & Ducky
Excellent job TT and all those who helped him so much to pull off an amazing event.

Look forward to seeing many of you at the Pub Night in November and future events.

We truly had a great day.

    Keith & Cathy

With the crazy Jack Russels Chewie and Tasha

PS: Looking forward to those photos coming on when those of you have them done.

    bedardsexpedition
Thanks TrimblesTrek. The tree bridge and birch log were my favourites. I look forward to next year.

    Broomer
Thanks TT for another fabulous day. You both must be congratulated for excellent job, that 25 stage cache was amazing. Nice to see everyone again and meet lots of new people. Fizbot, excellent pictures!
GAGAFAP III (keep the name) September 2004? Will be looking forward to it.
    Thanks again.

Wow, all we can say is WOW!

The day was wonderful. Linda nnd Larry of the TT team were just incredible! And thanks to everyone who helped.

Everyone we met were great and the prizes were good too.

    Thanx 2 all

    BullShipper and Family

    Car37 & Shnde
It was interesting to meet other cachers even tho we arrived late, was able to get a few caches in before hunger took over, missed the BBQ. Will be grabbing the TBs next, getting our logs into the system now we are home. Thanks for holding the Event, maybe next year we will be on time.

    Car37 & Shnde

    CheeryO's
This is another reason to own a GPS unit and enjoy Geocaching!!! The fun never stops, the challenge never ends and learning continues.

Besides meeting fellow Geocachers for the first time and again, the day (including the good weather) is going to be remembered.

Found the 25 TrimbleTrek cache sites, the projection waypoint cache (the learning part of the day) and the cache by Linx1 and the Hunter. I enjoyed the fresh air, the hiking, watching 1701eh climb and two new unique cache containers.

    Thanks,
    Neal for team Cheery0's.

    chris-mouse
Wow, What a day!. The weather had me questioning our sanity on the way out this morning, but the rain passed before we got to the spot, and the rest of the day was just perfect. I had a great time, and I'm pretty sure everyone else did too. Many, many thanks to Trimblestrek and everyone else who helped put it all together. I'm already looking forward to next year
I took a whole pile of photos at the picnic. The best of them are posted here. I have much more detailed photos of the quilts. Most of the signatures on the quilts are readable on the detailed photos. If anyone is interested in the detailed photos, send me a message and I'll mail them out.

    Clamdiggers
Great turnout despite the weather however even the weather co-operated. Thanks for the door prizes and the great time in general - will make sure to come next year.

    Coupar-Angus
Squeakieboots & I would like to express our sincerest of thanks to Trimbles and everyone else involved in organizing this event. Squeakie wasn't exactly herself today though but I'm sure she'll be feeling better in the next day or so. I couldn't believe that everyone got a door prize (and some got more than one!) To whomever donated the dolly for Hannah, Swiss Army knife, Links Golf game & jumbo sized pack of AA batteries, than you very much indeed! It was also cool to see "Coupar-Angus" stiched into the Geoquilt I signed and mailed off some time ago. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to mingle some more but with one eye trained on Ms. Squeakieboots it was a little awkward. Thanks again to all again. Cheers! Coupar-Angus & Squeakie

    DxChallenged
Wow! What a great event this was!
Now we have 2 favorite placed in Canada...Ottowa and Guelph
I was amazed by the park! It reminded me of places that we had been to in Ireland. A beautiful body fo water with so many senic spots! We will be back!

The event was super. Butterfly girl esp enjoyed the caches...I smiled as she flited to each site...racing with eversure to Yell the "I found it".

Sweety gal had a great time meeting new people and coining a new phrase "Yo! Geocache guy" Gotta love it!

Fearless Leader was just that....Leading us to and from the event site, testing out the cache sites before we pursued farther and registering us for the different event caches.

I was amazed by the response to my quilts! I have come to the realization that it is way better to give (away) than to receive (I don't enjoy selling my quilts). Thanks so much for the plaque....the calligraphy is awesome! It will go in my office near where I sew.

And thanks to the Trimbles crew from all of us for the effort that you put into this event. Your hard work and kindness were evident throughout the entire day!

BTW...With the Canadian geoquilt project now completed (congradulations to the winner!) a new project is just around the bend! :)

Wow, what a great turn out. It was great to be out on the trails and see so many people with GPSs in hand. Usually, we geocachers are the minority. Well not today!

It was great to see everyone, both people we've met before and all those we haven't. THe food was perfect and even the weather turned out to be pleasant. (although we had our doubts on the drive to Fergus this morning through the pouring rain)

We were just sorry we had to leave before the festivities were over. The were some more caches we were really hoping to do. Anyway thanks to everyone who helped organize the picnic and especially to TT.

    Hope to see everyone again.

    Fizbot
What an awesome way to spend my 300th cache. The organization and overall team work was a sight to see, especially for a group who only know each other through this anonymous electronic forum. Thanks to everyone who placed caches and helped out and a special thanks to Trimbles Trek for their outstanding work in getting this all organized.

    Fizbot.
ps. pictures should be online soon. Watch for web links!

    Flick
WOW!! What an incredible success!! TT did a fantastic job as organizer/ page builder/ multi-cache hider/ prize coordinator/ master of ceremonies/ burger flipper. If I could wear as as many hats as you do, TT, I'd take all of 'em off to ya, kid!! Thanks also to Linda and Benjamin as I'm sure many family sacrifices were made in the organization of this event. On a personal note, thanks to Kel of KDKK17 for spending her birthday with me. I especially enjoyed being able to walk the trails with Lynx 1 and the Hunter, where Tony proved to me that it is possible to injure yourself by falling from the BASE of a tree (he's a trained professional, folks. PLEASE don't try this at home).

It was great to have the chance to renew aquaintances and to begin new friendships. Thanks to everyone for making this a memorable day (and, once again, Happy Birthday, Hon!)

    Hard Oiler
A first Event Cache for me and what a great Event it was. Real fun putting faces to what were just names. By the first cache I'd forgotten about the miserable drive in the rain up - and then the sun came out . A big thanks to TT and all who organized, contributed time, talent, prizes or just showed up. Can't wait until #3

    J.A.R.S.
Thank you TT! We had a great time. Found 32 caches and walked approximately 10kms. There were some really inventive and clever caches out there.

It was great meeting so many geocachers. Hope to see you all again at the next GAGAFAP event.

    jeff-trex
I just saw the pics from the event, they were great, I had a real good time. Nice to put faces with the names .
I was teamed with bulshipper, Hard oiler, and myself (jeff-trex). even though the day didn't start out so well, the weather soon cooperated in our favor
making for a perfect day for caching. I am looking forward to Gagafap III. I might place a cache next year.

Got some way cool ideas for hiding caches, ie: the PVC birch log and the non-bird houses.

Superthanks Go to TT for all your work organizing the event.

hope to see everyone at future events (the next one is the pub night at London Arms)

    kdkk17
Wow what a great time! Kyle was so tired I cant remember the last time he slept this late. We must've walked about 10 k's. What a beautiful day it turned out to be. Flick called me a dreamer when I grabbed my sunglasses "just in case". Many thanx to TT. I cant imagine the work involved to set up that 25 stage multi. By the way, what exactly was the big tall pole used for? I imagine the metal was to keep the squirrels from climbing it. Does that mean a feeder of some sort? You definitely need to form a committee next year. Cant wait.

    Kismet
Had a great time. Nice to put some faces to the names. Thank you TT for organizing the event.

    Lazair lll
Wow! the weather Gods favored us once again. Thanks to all who contributed to a great day of geocaching, fun, food, insult trading and getting together with some old and new friends. Special thanks to TT Larry & Linda for such a well organised and relaxed happening.
    Looking forward to GAGAFAP III

    Thanks

    Lynx1 and the Hunter
&Thanks TT and Family for another great picnic; GAGAFAP II - The Sequel and all the effort you’ve done in getting it all set up and keeping the page up to date. It turned out to be a great day with the weather starting out so wet. It was a great job you did on the multi-cache with a fine set of cache containers and hiding spot, ouch. Sure did see a lot of the park. Had a great turnout of people and TB’s (47) and it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves. You did a fine job of getting prizes to everyone and everyone helped pitch to make it an excellent adventure. It was fun being out on the trail with Flick, now we know why you enjoy his company so much, he speaks so highly of you. It was nice to see the Geoquilt all together and the new one. Thanks to TOMTEC for the porker run, well done. Thanks to all those took the time out to find our cache. Janice and I both had a great time.

    Janice and Tony

    Mckinley
McKinley, Micheline and John had a great time today. Met lots of friends old and new. We were glad the weather turned out for the best for everyone. Thanks for putting on such a great event!!

    Murfster
WOW!! What a great day! Glad I made the trip, I had a few doubts driving over in the rain if anyone would even be there. Lotsa fun.

TT..what a great job organizing. Larry, I can't imagine the hours that went into it all. Cook Linda many thanks to you to. Many many thanks to one and all !!

Hope many of you will make it up to Northern Ontario at some point, lots to see and do. Lotsa Cache and prizes.

See you all again. Happy caching! Murfster

    Nozzletime
I am sure all the cachers that went against common sense this morning are glad they did.
Who in their right mind would leave a nice warm dry house to go spend a day in the rain, in the woods on hands and knees lookng for plastic containers.
Excellent job by all who helped
    Many thanks
    Nozzletime & Smudge

Should I book this weekend off work next year for GAGAFAP 3?

    Olar
A SUPER LARGE thank-you to TT and his family for organizing this immensely successful event. If there were ever a Geocaching Event Hall of Fame then GAGAFAP II would be it's first member.
I just cannot imagine how TT found the time to do all that he did. It's actually quite mind-boggling. Even Mother Nature was impressed and put a hold on the rain for us.

    Thanks, Olar

    Paragon
    Wow... What an event.
I was nice to put some faces to all these log
    reports I've been reading.
    Had a Super Time.
Thanks TT for a Fun Day.

    Purple Fever
Wow, we are so glad we ignored the rain when we headed out... it turned out to be a fine day! Thanks to those who placed caches for the event and to Yorelken and Algonquin Bound for spending the morning with us in the woods (AB, you weren't the only one to do a cache AFTER - we had to get to Waterloo for my homecoming, but of course I HAD to stop at GHMCMC 6 on the way to Waterloo!). It was great to meet so many other geocachers as well. A BIG thanks to the entire TrimblesTrek crew - we were amazed at how much work you put into this event, and we REALLY appreciate it... THANK-YOU!!!!!

Tylor and I had an amazing time at the picnic today. It was a pleasure meeting everyone there and being able to put faces to the names, and meeting the many new people too that we haven't encountered in the logs. We enjoyed doing the 25 part multi (stages 23 and 24 were very memorable), the poker run (cool hiking stick...thanks!) and also the individual caches by Team Speed (that was a tough one to find...Maplejo sumbled across it just as we were giving up) and Lynx and Hunter. Would have liked to do the few others that were placed for the picnic, but just ran out of time.

I asked Tylor what he liked the best today and he said the following in the car on the way home: geocaching, prizes, playing with Ben. He wants to know when the next geocaching picnic will be.

Thanks TT and everyone for a fun filled day!

    Team Speed

That was an awesome day! We couldn't believe there could be so many clever, clever caches in one area. We had a blast—even climbing the tree! The number of hours spent organizing this event boggles the mind. Many, many thanks to all the organizers and contributors. We're more anxious than ever for GAGAFAP III.

    Cheers, Brian and Madeleine

    TOMTEC
What a great event, glad I could be a part of it! Don't forget to log the official Poker Run cache GCGYAN "Tree of a Kind" at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=93736 . Thanks to all who participated; even with the initial weather we had an excellent turnout! Thanks to TT and Family for organizing the event and many thanks to all the Prize Donors! Can't wait for the next meet! See you all at GNASHERS in November!

    TOMTEC (Dan)

P.S. What happened to the "Secret Prize" for the Forum participants?

    TrimblesTrek
What a great day. Cooperative weather, good food, lotsa fun, and a super group of friends, old and new. Makes the preparations all worthwhile!

It was great to see a lot of new geocachers come out to join the fun. It was great to see some faces we haven't seen since last year. It was great to see some of the Pub Night regulars. Heck, it was even great to see Flick!

I've narrowed the search for a GAGAFAP III location down to two spots. Both would be spectacular places for a picnic. Both will remain Secret! hehehe

Next year, I may form a GAGAFAP committee of sorts. There's getting to be a little too much work for just me. I'm sure I'll be able to count on some of you to help out!

Well, that's it I guess. See you on the trails, or at a Pub Night (well worth attending one if you haven't yet).

This page will be archived in a few weeks, but will remain available for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for making the event a memorable one.

    Larry, Linda, and Benjamin

    The Blue Quasar
Well I certainly was surprised at the turn out considering what the weather looked like.

I enjoyed myself a great deal, and look forward to other Event Caches with you fine people.

    The RidgeRunners
A great outing and being able to use it as our 250th find added to our enjoyment! Not enough can be said for those contributors to make it a success. What a great crew of Geocachers and as with most of these events, never enough time to chat with them all.
We thoroughly enjoyed the day and the gods were looking down on us when the weather cleared at the start of the picnic.
Again, our thanks to all for a great event, both from the RidgeRunners and our ladies.
Putting GAGAFAP III on our calendar as a must do.

    The_Shepherds
Thanks very much to TT and everyone else who helped out with the picnic. A lot of time and effort went into the event, and it was greatly appreciated. It was especially nice to meet a lot of the people who we have read about in the posted logs. Thanks to chris-mouse for the spare batteries which kept us alive after we committed the cardinal sin of geocaching (Always carry a spare set.)

    Thanks for a great day.

Well, TT, another great day. What a turnout considering the weather. Thanks for the fun.
