Geocache Description:

Walter's Falls is located on private property, but is accessible from a viewing platform.

NOTE: THERE IS CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AT THIS SITE. THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING AN INN HERE. USE CAUTION. WE HAVE PLACED THE CACHE WELL AWAY FROM THE CONSTRUCTION. BUT THE MOUTH OF THE FALLS CAN STILL BE VIEWED FROM THE PLATFORM NEAR THE NEW INN.

This is part of a multi-cache that will take you to waterfalls. Each of the stages is a stand-alone cache except for the last one. The caches can be done in any order but, to complete the final cache of the tour, you must record the secrets located in the log book for each of the other caches.

Make sure you note the Code inside the Log book as you will need this to get to the last Fall on the Tour.

Walter's Falls

From the viewing platform Walter's Creek spills over the cliff’s edge dropping 14 meters to the valley floor. The waterfalls were originally home to an old lumber and wool mill that was functional until the early 1980's. (Note: from www.greycounty.on.ca/tourism magazine).

The cache is a camoflauged container.

Please make sure that the lid on the Cache is placed back on tightly and that the cache is well hidden again.

The safest trail access that we could find to get to the cache is N44.29.423, W080.42.746. We strongly recommend that this be the direction you proceed down the cliff side from. Note the trail down will be slippery if wet. Proceed with caution.

Once you have found the cache. You may want to hike up towards the base of the falls. To truely appreciate thier beauty you really need to see them from down below. While at Walter's Falls, take a look at the Dam just past the head of the falls before you make your descent to find the cache and view the falls from the bottom.

We had problems with the GPS signal, but retraced our steps several times when we hid it to validate that the coords were correct.

Note: To get to the base of the falls, you will have to climb over rocks, trees, brush and through swampy stuff. Have fun. We did and it's worth it. But retrace your steps back to the trail we recommended for your climb back up.
