This virtual cache is located in the remote area of Vulcans Throne on the north rim of the Grand Canyon near Toroweap Overlook.
From Fredonia, this area requires a drive of about 60 miles on dirt roads. The first 57 miles are easily traversed by a passenger car, but the last 2.4 miles may require a 4x4 or at least good ground clearance under the best conditions. Alternatively, one could hike up from the Colorado river on the Lava Falls trail which is only 1.5 miles long (and nearly 3000 vertical feet! Don't try that hike during the summer months.... And if that were the only access, this would be a 5 star cache!). This virtual cache is about 0.1 miles along the Lava Falls trail from the obvious parking spot. The river is not visible from here, but you are in the middle of Grand Canyon volcanics right across from Prospect Canyon and where lava flows have repeatedly dammed the Grand Canyon.
To claim this cache, sign the logbook at the Lava Falls trailhead near the parking area and upload a picture taken from the waypoint of you clearly showing your GPS as well as either the Lava Falls visible to your left as you look south over the canyon, or of Vulcans Throne behind you when you face the same direction, or of Prospect Canyon in the background of the photo.
