A peaceful view, near a little-used trail
I've had a cache made up to place in this location for almost a year, but hadn't managed to make it up here to place it. A friend had taken me up to this area many years ago, doing trail maintenance, and I've been back nearly every summer since; the nearby area is a nice place to relax with a book and watch the hawks circle over the ridge. In all of the times I've been here, I've never seen another person on the trail. I've never been up here with a significant amount of snow/ice on the ground; the difficultly will be moderately higher then.
The access is via a marked trail, though the parking for the trail and the initial access to it may be confusing. The more recent copies of the NY/NJ Trail association maps for the area should show this clearly. If you're bushwacking for more than a hundred feet, or scaling cliffs, there's certainly an easier way you can go- Enjoy!
