Geocache Description:

Historic Base 'A' at Port Lockroy, Goudier Island Antarctica.

The worlds most southerly Post Office, and the UK's oldest existing structure on the Antarctic Peninsula.

This historic monument is manned only during the (southern) summer months, so don't bother to call mid-winter! Perhaps one of the more accessible Antarctic caches, as you don't have to be a scientist or pilot to get here - hundreds of tourists visit every summer.

To log this cache please send a postcard from the 'most famous post office in the world' to: Web Manager, British Antarctic Survey, High Cross, Madingley Rd., CB3 0ET Cambridge UK. - you'll be able to do this even if on one of the bigger ships and unable to go ashore - or you can email me giving the name and date of birth of one of the 3 'postmasters' for the current season. They should be on the base from early in December.

Latest picture of the 2002/2003 'postmasters' just after arrival!
