Located on Dungeness Spit at the New Dungeness Light Station
***Please READ THRU the Long description, so I am not forced to tell you your answer is incorrect! That's a looong hike for a re-do!! :) :)
This cache is located at the New Dungeness Light Station which sits within the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge. It can be accessed by land or sea, however you will need to pay a fee. Visitors are welcome at the light station and tours of the lighthouse are available 7 days a week. Be sure to pack a lunch and start your hike on an out-going tide. (2 1/2 hours before low tide works well)
At or near the cache coordinates, you will find a picnic table (one of several) that is inscribed with a South African Lighthouse Keeper's name. The tables are sometimes moved so make sure to walk around & check each of them out. Email me the name of this lighthouse keeper. I will email you back and if it is correct, you can then log it as FOUND IT.
Currently, the New Dungeness Light Station is run by volunteers from the New Dungeness Light Station Association who stay out there for a week at a time. It is a great place to visit, fill up with drinking water, has picnic tables and a restroom. There is a sign out there that says "Reality 5 miles". Believe it! The round trip hike will take you 5-6 hours including an hour or so for lunch. Enjoy!!
