Geocache Description:

"Caching" in on on yet another of Lexington's claims to fame,

this one will take you to one of the world's most beautiful horse tracks.

Located just west of Lexington, this cache is on the way out to "The Folly of Man" and the "Hammer Cache". The above coordinates will take you to the walking ring area of the paddock. From there follow down behind the grandstands along the main paddock area (with all the trees) and then head around the END of the grandstands to the track. You will find the answers to the following questions along that route.
To log the cache, please e-mail us the correct answers to these questions through our profile above. You may then go ahead and log it. If there are any questions or mistakes we'll contact you before deleting your log.
  • How many semicircular balconies are visible from the center of the "Walking Ring" (the oval with only 1 tree)?
  • How many walking loops are there for the horses in the rest of the "Paddock" area (with the many trees)?
  • How many outdoor TV stands (they look like UFOs on poles) are there near the back gate? (Past the end of the Paddock)
Important Note: The racetrack and grandstands are generally open to the public 24/7 (FREE) except during the two racing meets in the Spring and Fall. You will find the exact dates of these meets by clicking on the Keeneland picture above which links to their main page.
You will still be able to log the cache during these meets, but, if you do it during a racing day, you will have to pay the $5entry fee. In all honesty, I highly recommend trying to stop by for a racing day ... it's an incredible chance to experience Horse Racing at its finest and to get a feel for the Living Heritage of Lexington.
