Geocache Description:

This is one of a five part multicache. The first four ‘virtual’ parts (N,S,E,W) have to be solved first to find the start co-ordinates for the fifth part. Solving the fifth part will lead you to the actual cache.

The first four ‘virtual’ parts each consist of a number of clues within walking distance of each other, although the caches themselves are miles apart.

At each virtual cache there will be a series of co-ordinates and questions. The co-ordinates will lead you to the answers to the questions.

The answers are then combined following the appropriate instructions, to result in a number which is the final solution to the cache.

Some of the answers will need to be decrypted and converted to a single digit number – this is how it works:

GEOCACHING for example can be calculated as shown:
G=7, E=5, O=5, C=3, A=1, C=3, H=8, I=9, N=4, G=7.

Add the digits together:
7 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 8 + 9 + 4 + 7 = 52

Keep adding the digits of the sums until you are left with a single digit number:
5 + 2 = 7.

The co-ordinates at the top of the page will take you to free roadside parking from which it is about a 2¼ mile walk which takes in all four locations. You can drive much closer to each location but you may not be able to park at the first two when its busy.

Unfortunately the Umbrella Tree has gone - so until I get a chance to rework it, the answer to this part is d=6.

The co-ordinates for the third clue are: N 50° 46.040 W 001° 18.794 and when did the ‘ w c l b o h ‘ erect this? _ _ _ _ (e)

The co-ordinates for the fourth clue are: N 50° 45.749 W 001° 19.428 and when did HRH open his esplanade? _ _ _ _ (f)

Some simple maths will give you the solution to this cache:
