The Kildalton Cross is the oldest cross in Britain, carved in the late eighth century.
See this link for details.
During my first visit to Scotland my wife and I went to the island of Islay best known for its Scotch whisky. (The best in Scotland!) Be sure to visit the Ardbeg and Caol Ila distilleries while you are there. These are only two of the seven on the island.
The Kildalton cross is located in a remote part of the island in the Kildalton church yard. Worth the trip if you are in Scotland.
As it appears that the orginal cache is gone, I will make this a virtual cache. To verify you visit, email me and tell me about your visit to the island. Looking forward to hearing from you. Steve
