The Wire Road Stop is part of Historic Route 66.
The way to the stop has been used as far back in time as the last Ice Age and today a modern thoroughfare. The site is an important part of American westward expansion history. The site is much different than it use to be when first built of logs during pioneer days.
Today it looks much like it did during its use at the time of the Civil War. (Now open April through August Saturdays only for tours)
