Geocache Description:

This journey is part of a cache series commemorating the travels of Leatherman in the late 1800s.

Leatherman once roamed SW Connecticut and SE New York from 1858 to 1889. He traveled a 365-mile loop between the Connecticut and Hudson rivers. Approximately every month he would repeat his journey. The man spoke primarily with grunts or gestures and dressed in crudely stitched leather from his hat to his shoes. The suit was made of heavy pieces of raw leather weighing more than sixty pounds. He would sleep outside year-round mostly in caves around Connecticut and New York. More information on Leatherman can be found at (visit link)

Willkommen auf Donner und Blitzen! You will enjoy this cache at the top of Spitzenberg in the Blue Mountain Reservation!

I parked at Watch Hill Road at the small pullover in the front entrance of the Sportsmans Center (41 15.293' 73 53.852'). You can also park at the top of Montrose Station Road and get Zulu from the same spot, but it is dirt, unmaintained in winter and rough. I walked in on the driveway into the main parking lot and picked up the Briarcliff-Peekskill Trail by cutting out the left rear of the lot, following green diamond markings, and also orange blazes.

The cache is an ammocan.
