Geocache Description:

Finding the cache requires a medium difficult walk in the Pilis Mountains, half an hour from Budapest. What it offers is a nice view over Pomáz and the sorrounding hills.

With this cache we invite you to 7 km excursion around Csúcs-hill in the surroundings of Csobánka and Pomáz villages (in fact Pomáz is a town). Our suggested starting point is the centre of Csobánka, where you can find parking place for your car. Csobánka can also be approached with buses from Pomáz (the suburban railways has a stop here). Start on the red trail, and then change over to the yellow one. Thus -going around Csúcs-hill- you reach the area where you must follow your GPS. In order to find the cache you must leave the trail.
The place is a popular alpinist training ground, so be not surprised to see a head suddenly appearing from a couloir. Be careful when coming with small children, there is not any fence on the cliff edge!
The cliff offers magnificent view over Szamár-hill (slightly to the left) and over houses of Pomáz. The place is especially recommended in spring, summer or autumn. When you had enough of watching the hills and you have already got the box, walk back on the yellow and red trail or descend to Pomáz.
Pomáz: The town extends over the valley of Dera-stream. Its name comes from the latin "pomosus"(rich in fruits). First written document about the settlement is a diploma by King Béla II., which mentions Pomáz as church lands belonging to Dömös abbacy. The village is inhabited by Germans, Serbs and Gypsies beside the Hungarians. It is worth visiting the Monument of Founding Hungary, the Wattay-Teleky castle and the Luppa-Mandics crypt.
Csobánka: Maybe the most beautifully situated village of this countryside. Archeological evidence prove that the place has been inhabited since prehistoric ages, findings show the one-time presence of Celts, Romans, Avars and invading Hungarians. Germans, Slovaks, Serbs and Gypsies live in the village beside Hungarians. Places of interest are Serb Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic church built in eclectic style, Szent-kút (Holy-well) shrine and church.
