Geocache Description:

Those keen geocache-hunters who are ready to devote a whole day for this cache will have part in a real Wild Eastern adventure. It won't be short: the preparation and the placing took almost three days.

The railway - in some degrees - fascinates anyone who used to be a kid, and the light railway is a pretty charming sight. The most extended Hungarian narrow-gauge railway-line can be found here in the Nagyberek (sorry if I'm mistaken), south of the Fonyód-Balatonfenyves area. This is a significant survival of times past more branching off system of lines.
The Nagyberek which is separated from Lake Balaton with the building of the southern railway still rich in natural resources. This railway system was created roughly a hundred years ago for serving the various economic activities which had been going on on this area for a long time. This meant the only contact with the outworld for some smaller interior settlements and manors for a long time. Nowdays, it has been striving for survival, and the seasonal lines have been carrying mainly tourists.

The stations of the multi-cache leads you though the entire line (7 stages: Balatonfenyves, Imremajor, Pálmajor, Somogyszentpál, Táska junction, Táska, Csisztafürdõ). The length of the lines is about 30km, and theoretically (and in practice as well) you have to do it twice for performing the tour; that's the challenge! It worsens the situation that you can't go by car. However, farm roads are accompanying the lines at full length, but I don't recommend it by average car, because the repair will be expensive. Maybe by company-car ;-) (Off-road vehicle is OK.) This adventure is especially the bikers' style; I think it gives the biggest adventure in this way.

Who comes from far away had better bring a bike and start from Balatonfenyves.

There are more possible alternatives: except one station you can collect the points with a car by driving around the Berek, but this can be more then a hundred kilometers and you can't get away with some walking (if you like your car). For instance, for that one point you'll gotta do 4km, but this is inevitable, because that one contains the coordinates of the two final stations. Plus some km in more parts.
Or the jeep.
Or the light railway itself. With the available lines you can combine the full route in a few days. (It's faster if you jump off, run forward, search the cache, run after the train, jump on :-)) You can check the timetable at (visit link) .

A good tourist map can help a lot, e.g. North-Somgy (12), maybe Lake Balaton (41). In Balatonfenyves at the beginning of the road to Imremajor and Pálmajor there is a dangerous-looking gate, but don't be afraid, probably it will open without asking, if not, you can say that you are making an excursion to Pálmajor to see the light railway, please open it. Of course, if you coming back this way don't bring breeder bulls, and steres of firewood :-)

So, here are the facts:
The structure follows the topology of the railway-lines: Starting point in Balatonfenyves, with two junctions. You can collect the coordinates one by one. Every cache is in a few meters or few ten meters circle from the rails. They are not brutally hidden, and the terrain isn't that hard, however because of the amount I think it's worth a 5/5.

The first (Balatonfenyves) is under a block.
The second (Imremajor) is on a tree, high.
The third (Pálmajor) is in the footing of the bridge.
The fourth (Somogyszentpál) is at the foot the bridge.
The fifth (Táska junction) is at the foot of a bush.
The sixth (Táska) is at the root of a typical group of trees.
The seventh (Csisztafürdõ) is in a split of a tree.

The original presents are divided to seven parts, if you take them, take all, and leave your present in the same style.

During the tour keep your eyes peeled! With their shabbiness the interior establishments, the manors, the farmsteads, the settlements have an unusual atmosphere. You will see roes, deers, herons, teals, cattles, buffalos behind electric fence, flowers, endangered plants and other natural resources for sure. Take care of your environment!

And one more thing: When you're stumbling between the rails beware on trains! When the train turns up, speeding at 10-15 kmph, get ready, because you've gotta jump in 15 minutes! ;-)
