This is the fifth in a set of seven caches in the “Road to the Wrekin” series. The first 6 caches are just off the A518, which runs from Uttoxeter to Telford through Staffordshire and Shropshire.
- The Urn
- Any Fort In A Storm(Now archived)
- Tunnel Vision
- Broad Hill Revisited
- Aqualate Mere*
- Crisis Point
- Wrekin Havoc!
Follow the public footpath down and past the information sign. Remember to keep to the paths and close all gates behind you. At the crossroads turn right, the cache is on the right bank, at the base of some tree roots (see the pictures for more details).
The cache is an ammo box, don't forget to hide it well.
The ground can get a bit boggy in wet weather.
The views of the lake are much better if you go straight on at the footpath crossroads - take some pictures and post them here!
If you do go this way, have a look in the new hide that has been built if possible.
More information on Aqualate Mere can be found here: Info
We have been asked by the Manager at the National Nature Reserve at Aqualate Mere to request that you park with care and do not block any farm gates as they are in use all the time. He would prefer that you use the National Nature Reserve car park at N 52° 46.798 W 002° 18.990 if at all possible. The bridleway from the car park leads directly to the cache.
Good luck
