Scout It
Out
This
multi-cache consists of two parts. The first part will involve finding a
micro-cache that contains the coordinates of the actual mini-cache box. I have placed
many traditional caches and decided to set-up a multi-cache. I guess it could be
possible to complete this cache on foot or bike, but it will be much easier to
just drive between the two points involved in this multi-cache. The name of this
multi-cache gives a clue to where you need to be to start your search for the
cache box. The title of this cache refers to the name of a creek that is in the
area of the micro-cache. I have explored part of this creek and it really is
quite beautiful. I fear that as the population expands that the creek will
become polluted and lose much of its natural beauty. Even though the micro-cache
isn't located directly next to the creek, please take this opportunity to
'cache-in, trash-out'. Doing so, helps ensure that Geocaching is looked upon favorably by the general
public.
Although the micro-cache is only located only 250-300 feet from a new road that doesn't yet appear in all map books, the real challenge will be finding it. The micro cache is a small plastic
bottle, just a little larger than a film canister, that has been entirely
wrapped with camouflage tape. The micro-cache has a lid that snaps on and off.
Once you find the micro-cache and retrieve the coordinates, make sure to place
the paper back in the container and please make sure
that the lid is firmly snapped-on. Please also make sure the container is
placed back upright in its hiding spot to help ensure that the paper inside
stays dry and legible for the next cacher. Now that you have the coordinates
that you need, you can continue your journey to the mini-cache :-)
When you
reach the area in which the mini-cache is located, you will be rewarded with a
very scenic view both to the north and to the south. From your vantage point you will be
able to look to the north and see the City of Bessemer
and to the south you will be able to see past the City of Helena all the way to
the City of Alabaster. I have always enjoyed this location because of this great
view. The mini-cache container is a Tupperware container that has been entirely
painted green. The mini-cache was hidden in a nice spot and covered with twigs and leaves. The
mini-cache container only measures 4-1/2"L X 3-1/2"W X 2-1/4"H so
if you are bringing an item to trade, please keep in mind that this is a
mini-cache and bring a small item that will fit in the container and please make
sure the lid is sealed tightly so the mini-cache contents will stay dry. When I placed the cache, it contained the
following items:
-

-

-

Geocache Info (please leave in cache)

Mini
Log Book (please leave mini pencils & pen in cache)
Please
sign the mini log book and feel free to take an item and leave a treasure for
the next person to find, but please make sure that the item will fit securely in
the container and that the lid will seal. Also, please take a couple of minutes
to make sure that the cache is well-hidden when you leave. After all, you had to
search for it and so should everyone else :-) I really had a lot of fun putting
together this little mini-cache and hope that you enjoy finding it. When I
placed the micro-cache the temperatures were in the single digits with wind
chills at or below zero. Hopefully, you will pick a warmer time to find the
mini-cache :-) I rated the cache as overall difficulty of 2 since you will have
to locate two caches to complete mission. I rated the terrain as a 2 since you
may have to go up a hill and there is some overgrowth at both locations. I have as
much fun creating and hiding the caches as I do finding them. We, here in Central Alabama, have a very beautiful and historic
area with an almost infinite number of locations to hide a cache. If you live in
the Central Alabama area I encourage you to hide a few caches of your own.
