This is Ithaca’s first cache and mine, too!
To find it, get on route 89 in Ithaca and go to Allen H. Treman
State Marina. Head into the parking lots between the Hangar Theatre
and the playing fields. Where you park is up to you but the closest
you can get to the cache with your car is between .2 and .25 miles
as the crow flies. If you try to follow the crow’s route, however,
you’d better have a swimsuit. This area of the park used to be a
dog park. THE OFF-LEASH AREA HAS BEEN MOVED SLIGHTLY AND IS NOW A
FENCED IN AREA. WATER AVAILABLE. THE CACHE IS NOT WITHIN THE FENCE.
(2008)If you bring your dog and let her/him run free, make sure you
have voice control. Have a leash just in case and don’t forget to
bring the bags. This is a great spot for picnicking but bring some
mosquito repellant if the weather's been damp and watch out for
poisonous vegetation off the path. This cache is a green ammo box
and I started it off with a bunch of dogtoys and some fish (yes,
fish!).
Enjoy!
