Geocache Description:

20 Year Cache The forgotten trail.

This cache is placed in the Sand Dunes State Forest. It is near the area of a cache originally placed by Don and Brenda. That cache (White Pines) was recently archived(2003)due to being MIA. Thanks to Don and Brenda, as that one lasted a year and a half. Also was the first cache I ever found. The cache is along a trail that starts at N45d25.779 and W93d42.154. There is a small plastic marker at this point. This trail was one of my favorites in the Dunes. I used to ride my horse through here for the last 20 years, or so. Now it looks like it is closed to horse traffic. But you can still enjoy the walk, until the trail fades away, as so many trails in the Sand Dunes have. When the road is open you can park along the gravel very near to the trail head. When the snow season is on, you will have to walk a little farther, as they close the road when it gets too deep. Parking when the road is closed is about a half a mile west of the trailhead. I placed the cache at the place where the turkey flushed, man was that a sight!! Also almost got run over by a deer, so watch out for him, too. If you continue along the trail after passing the cache you will come to a walk in campground. There are out-houses there. Enjoy the walk. The cache is a nut tin with various trinkets I've collected from other caches
