Geocache Description:

This is a Historic landmark. The Empire Lumber Company operated from 1887 to ???, dominating this once booming lumber town. It was capable of producing up to 20 million feet of lumber a year. I expanded to one of the largest and best equipped hardwood mills in the area. Destroyed by fire in 1906,and was quickly rebuilt. With most of the nearby virgin timber gone, the mill was not replaced. Empire is now a picturesque village near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. What year was the second fire? E mail me with your answer.

YOU MUST HAVE BEEN TO THE LOCATION TO LOG YOUR FIND. I WILL DELETE ALL LOGS THAT I THINK THE CACHER HAS NOT BEEN TO THE LOCATION.
