Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the old historic Fort Pierce (or what's left of it). It is easily accessed by passenger vehicle on a well maintained dirt road.

I meant to look up the history of the fort before I posted this but could not find much information. My recollection of the story is that the fort was built to help the pioneers protect their livestock from Indian theft as they watered at the nearby spring in the Fort Pierce Wash.

This cache was prepared and hidden by my young friends Stieg & Kia who love to hunt caches with me occasionally. The cache box is a small ammo can.

As May 26th 2004 the Veltkamp BRATS have adopted this cache and cleaned it out. Please help us keep this cache great.
