Geocache Description:

A virtual cache hidden by the city walls of York. May take a bit longer than you think for an urban cache.

Actual microcache has been lost, but as the location is interesting one I have kept it as a virtual cache.

York has a well preserved set of walls around the old city. Whilst most of the walls are obvious, there are places on the walls which you are unlikely to know about even if you think you know York well.

This part of the wall goes back to Roman times, and you can see an excavation of each of the many layers that make up the walls. There is a certain irony in that each successive, successful invader added a bit to the walls to try and keep out future invaders.

The coordinates may not be that helpful as the location doesn't allow the GPS to get a very accurate fix. No climbing of walls is required to find this location, although you may need to walk around a bit to find a way in.

Getting there and finding it.
York is frequently traffic bound and parking is scare and expensive. Although there are several parking areas nearby, the more sensible option, if coming from out of town ,is to use the 'park and ride'.
Please note: no trespasssing is required to get to the location although you will have to explore a bit rather blindy follow the arrow. The area is locked at night.
