Geocache Description:

Near Goblin Valley State Park, Utah. Fairly easy, level terrain. Narrow canyons, sand and gravel at times. 1.3 mile walk.

.

Located in Little Wild Horse Canyon, the great feature about this cache is the hike getting to it. It is awesome! You will pass through some very narrow canyon walls, requiring you to turn sideways a time or two. It is both beautiful and exciting.

The total hike distance to the cache is about 1.3 miles from the parking area. Since you will be travelling through narrow and deep rock walls, there will be a distance of between .25 and .50 miles when you will not be able to get a good satellite fix, if any.

The going is easy, most of the time. In general it is easy and level, but there are a couple places where you have to climb. (The first spot, not far from the beginning of the hike, you have to climb up about 6-8 feet. It's a little tricky but with a little help you'll make it. It is possible to skirt this climb by carefully walking up little ledges on the side walls. Update: This sentence is no longer valid. Flash floods have scoured out this spot so that now there is no climbing required). Another place where you have to climb is over a large boulder blocking the slot canyon. Not too difficult. My 5 and 2.5 year old sons came along, with both walking the whole way in. I did have to carry the 2.5 year old part of the way out. He got tired and fell asleep on my back, his head resting on my head.

You will lose view of the satellites, but after going through the narrows, you will come to a wide section where another short canyon intersects perpendicular to this one. Here you will get great satellite reception. I had 6 or 7 satellites, with accuracy down to 19 feet. The cache is located in this area.

After finding the cache, don't turn around and go back. There is about another mile of great narrows up ahead!

The cache is in a tupperware container, and convered by rocks, but you should know it when you see it. A lot of people end up standing right above it, so if you end up on the edge of a drop, go down.

If you have never been here before, you will really enjoy the hike!! And even if you have been here, of course you will still enjoy the hike!

Don't use the spoiler unless you really need it. You probably won't need it. Using the above lat./long. coordinate, my Vista got me to within about 3 feet of the cache.
