Grotto Shrine.. I was here as a child and it made such a lasting
impression upon me.. Home movies..watching my gramma and grampa
tagging along with us..
All plaques and statues are made of the finest marble in the
world - Carrara Marble from Italy. Most of the rock found in the
Grotto is a rare lava rock found within a 15-20 mile radius.
Peak time for the gardens is mid July through mid August. There
is no charge to visit the Grotto gardens or shrines (donations
only)..a small fee is charged to go through the cave if you wish
to.
You'll see why the difficulty is rated so high.. so many places
to hide the cache container.
Kris Willfahrt is the grounds keeper.. seek her out if
stumped or hitting rock bottom.
I hope you enjoy this area as much as I have returning to it
after so many years... even in Nov it was quite impressive.
