 Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Chãos
Um templo do ano de 1625, a Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Chãos liga-se a uma história dos mares em que um dia a Virgem Maria foi clamada pelos navegantes à grande tempestade que se levantou nos mares.
Atualmente como capela, foi em tempos remotos uma ermida, e por isso a sua situação é no cimo da serra de Valongo. Um templo seiscentista, do ano de 1625, a Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Chãos, assim denominada, liga-se a uma história dos mares, mesmo que a sua situação geográfica esteja um pouco afastada.

Esta construção deve-se mais uma vez à devoção das pessoas, mais concretamente dos navegantes, sendo a Senhora advogada destas gentes. Um dia a Virgem Maria foi clamada pelos navegantes à grande tempestade que se levantou nos mares, para que esta evitasse o naufrágio.
Assim, como pagamento deste milagre, a Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Chãos foi erigida a expensas do navegante de campanha, Tomé António.
As festividades à Senhora dos Chãos realizam-se no primeiro fim de semana de setembro. Normalmente, no domingo de manhã, decorre a procissão entre a igreja matriz e a ermida. Nas imediações encontram-se as ruínas de um antigo moinho de vento. Deste local avista-se uma extraordinária paisagem que abrange as cidades de Valongo e do Porto e respetivos arredores, assim como o Atlântico.

This construction is due once again to the devotion of the people, more specifically the sailors, as the Lady is the advocate of these people. One day the Virgin Mary was cried out by sailors to the great storm that arose in the seas, so that it would avoid shipwreck.
Thus, as payment for this miracle, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Chãos was built at the expense of the field navigator, Tomé António.
The festivities for Senhora dos Chãos take place on the first weekend of September. Normally, on Sunday morning, the procession takes place between the main church and the hermitage. Nearby are the ruins of an ancient windmill. From this place you can see an extraordinary landscape that covers the cities of Valongo and Porto and their surroundings, as well as the Atlantic.
