A Ten Year Celebration with Hitman9956: 2013 - 2023
Welcome to the tenth anniversary event for myself (Hitman9956), who first joined Geocaching on 24th June 2013. Little was I to know the world and community that I was about to embark into, but I was believe it or not a very shy hermit of an individual, who was heavilly into video games, and rarely left the home due to having little confidence with socially interacting with others. It was thanks to a local news item on BBC North West Tonight first mentioning Geocaching, and a friendly chat with my former work colleague and friend Whelan126 (Kagsy), who took me under her wing, and we ventured out together for our first few finds.
I mainly cached alone in the first few years being nervous at events and being a social caterpillar - but 2016 changed that and it would be at the Hilbre Island event hosted by Lannies, Lady Wasmis & SirPhilPam&Rob where I would meet many new friends, and I began to come out of my shell and have built up many great friends over the years, for which I have been truly grateful, and I barely stay at home now let alone play any video games!
It's thanks to Geocaching that I have been blessed enough to explore this great country here in the UK, and also ventured abroad too enjoying many great adventures with my friends, and I have loved every moment of it! I still cannot believe that ten years have passed since the first time I ventured out, but as the actual date falls on a Saturday, I felt best to pick the nearest Monday instead!
I've picked the Swan & Two Nicks as a venue, with the event starting at 6.30pm onwards, and the pub serving some delicious food as well as a car park on site. I hope that as many of my fellow cachers can turn up - hopefully, it will be a great evening for us all!
