Geocache Description:

Doon Hill, or the Faerie Knowe, has been inhabited by "The People of Quietness" for centuries. If you want your wish to be granted, place it on the surrounding trees and circle the big tree seven times. GO BACKWARDS ROUND THE TREE AT YOUR PERIL. In 1692, a local minister walked backwards round the tree, in order to prove his superstitious parishioners wrong, and was never seen again. A genuinely spooky place.

Park in Aberfoyle and walk down Manse Road, saying hello to the horses as you go. You can park further down Manse Road in a small parking area closer to the cache, but this gets full at busy times. Follow the signs and watch out for Huskies. Notice the blue coated car museum. The cache is placed a little way from the Tree in deference to the wee folk, who appear to tolerate its presence, but they do mischievously disrupt GPS signals, sending cache hunters round in circles. They particularly dislike Magellan GPSr's. If you wish to find the cache quickly, it is best to bring someone who believes in Faeries. Things have changed a bit, now (2019), since way back in 2002. The original tree and all it's mini surrounding wish-strewn trees have gone. The new tree is larger and way more spectacular. The Blue coated car museum has had a massive Kirsty and Phil upgrade and the cars are gone. The Huskies have also moved further north. Wonder what it will be like in another 17 years?
