Alguns quilómetros a nordeste de Lagos encontram-se este
conjunto de tanques de salinas. Tal como acontece
com muitos outros complexos de antigas salinas, a
produção de sal foi abandonada.
Pare e enquanto procura a cache usufrua do ar puro e das vistas maravilhosas.
O local atrai bastantes aves, sendo um dos melhores locais do concelho de Lagos para a observação de aves aquáticas.
A zona não se encontra vedada e pode ser percorrida a pé.
Nas salinas é possível ver diversas espécies de limícolas. As mais frequentes são o
pernilongo, o perna-vermelha-comum, o perna-verde, o maçarico-bique-bique, o
borrelho-grande-de-coleira, o pilrito-comum e a narceja-comum, mas
ocasionalmente aparecem outras espécies.
Outras aves aquáticas que aqui aparecem incluem garças, colhereiros, na altura da arribação e nidificação podem ser observados também pequenos bandos de flamingos.
Pode ser vista a petinha-ribeirinha, que no Outono e no Inverno é frequente nas zonas de sapal. Outros passeriformes que aqui ocorrem são a cotovia-de-poupa, o pintarroxo e o exótico bico-de-lacre. são habituais o pato-real e a garça-real, assim como o pernilongo, mas por vezes são vistas espécies menos frequentes. Várias aves de rapina, são vistas com regularidade na área, as espécies mais frequentes são o bútio-comum (no Inverno) e o tartaranhão-dos-pauis, mas o peneireiro-cinzento também aparece regularmente na zona.
Perto existe uma curiosa colónia de cegonhas-brancas, com ninhos construídos em oliveiras a muito baixa altura, a cerca de dois metros do solo.

A few kilometers to the northeast of Lagos you will find this
set of saline tanks. As it happens with many other complexes of ancient salt flats, the salt production was abandoned.

The place attracts many birds, being one of the best places in the municipality of Lagos for the observation of water birds.
The area is not fenced and can be explored on foot.
In the salt pans it is possible to see several species of waders. The most frequent are the
stilt, the common red shank, the green shank, the beak sandpiper, the collared plover, the common sandpiper and the common snipe, but occasionally other species appear. Other water birds that appear here include herons, spoonbills, at the time of arrival and nesting, small flocks of flamingos can also be observed. You can see the riverine pipit, which in autumn and winter is frequent in marsh areas. Other passerines that occur here are the lark, the robin and the exotic waxbill. mallard and heron are common, as well as the black stilt, but sometimes less frequent species are seen. Several birds of prey are regularly seen in the area, the most frequent species are the common buzzard (in winter) and the marsh harrier, but the gray kestrel also appears regularly in the area.
Nearby there is a curious colony of white storks, with nests built in olive trees at a very low height, about two meters from the ground.
