Geocache Description:

05 March 2023, 14:00 - 17:00

This is the pre-wrap up event for CARW2023 to reminisce about the weekend!

We are reverting to a quasi-weekend event this year so that the out-of-town cachers (Whitecourt, Camrose, etc) can attend an event locally and pass on advice on puzzle solves and must-find caches.

There will be an event the following Saturday, March 11 where prizes will be awarded (we don't expect out-of-town hiders to place caches and therefore be eligible for awards).

This year the onus will be on the cache hiders to submit their caches for consideration to avoid vote splitting we have seen in the past.

Please submit your cache application to be added to the voting form for cache finders. This is mandatory to be considered for a non-trophy category.

Event is from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Please note that you must attend this event to claim a smiley. Caching during the weekend and participating in CARW does not make you eligible to log.

CARW2023 will be held during the weekend of March 4th & 5th. Cache finding start time is 9:00 A.M. Saturday, March 4th and the cache finding end time is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5th.

Please DO NOT hunt for caches before the start time of 9:00 A.M. Saturday, March 4th.

The "pre-wrap up" event cache will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th.

CARW2023 is a "fun for the whole family" event with a focus on "Quality Caching".

This year's theme will be Medieval/Monty Python so go out there and hide some caches based on your favorite theme!

Edmonton and area geocachers hide winter-friendly caches in the designated event area. Caches are submitted for review on or before the Cache Submission Deadline of Friday, February 24.

Upon publication, participants prepare for the event by solving puzzles, planning their routes, and, for some, forming teams to hunt for caches. A "Kick Off" event is held on Friday evening for people to get together to make their preparations. On Saturday morning March 4th at 9:00 A.M. everyone hits the trails to hunt for caches.

On Saturday afternoon, March 5th, everyone heads for the pre-wrap-up event.

The cache hide radius is 50 km with a centre of N 53° 36.789 W 113° 36.596 (roughly Heritage Lakes in St Albert)
