The Brownstone Gate Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

longwalker: I thought I Archived this a week or so ago. I got e-mail from a cacher that there is a new gate further east. The e-mail had photos of the hiding place showingthat the cache is no longer there.
This is a great place to visit. A few years ago it was possible to drive all the way to the reseviour. Now house are built close and entry is very restricted. I miss some of the good old days, especially the ones when the Las Vegas area only had 70,00 or so people.

Geocache Description:

This area is getting harder to get to. Twenty-five years ago you could drive to the reservoir, now you have a hard time getting off SR-159 into the area. As with the series along the southwest hills, development is encroaching on the area. Either 4x4 or high clearance is needed through the washes to get to the caches.
The Critter Cache is near here, so you can get two on this trip. Some agave pits and Brownstone Reservoir are further up what used to be the road and are well worth the walk. The hardest part of the walk is the shifting gravel under foot.
This is a small cache made from a pill bottle.
When placed contained:
• The Geocaching info sheet
• A log sheet
• A pencil stub
• A key chain level
• A key chain from Guam
• A Where's George Dollar
• A US dollar Coin, 2000-D

Remember this a very small cache. Take a pen or pencil with you in case the original one is broken. Leave something small from your travels.
