Coppicing at Green Lane Reserve
CITO 2022, Season 2
Attend a CITO from 1st September through to 30th November to grab a season 2 souvenir.
Parking: There is some on street parking on Laxton Road (or in many of the other side streets nearby).
Where: We will meet across from the main Hucclecote Meadow gates at 0930 or find us in the reserve via Laxton road (published co-ordinates), look out for the flag.
What: Join us coppicing hazel at Green Lane. Coppicing encourages new growth which can be harvested for use in hedgelaying projects around the city. We will be harvesting stakes and binders to use in hedgerow restoration projects at Hucclecote Meadows SSSI next month.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and tools if necessary. Drop by if you have any time to spare and don't worry about not knowing what to do - none of us do, but the ranger will set us straight!
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
We ask you to bring your own gloves and where appropriate tools, so if you have a saw please do bring it along. Don't worry if you don't have one as the ranger will have a supply.
Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work!
