Geocache Description:

13 May 2022, 08:00 - 09:00

Come join me on the only Friday the 13th in all of 2022. I will be providing the trash bags. You bring your grabber, gloves, water and whatever else will keep you comfortable while at the CITO.  I will be bringing some baby plants if you would like to trade, then bring some of yours.  Bring your trackables for sharing and discovery.

The Fear of 13

Long considered a harbinger of bad luck, Friday the 13th has inspired a late 19th-century secret society, an early 20th-century novel, a horror film franchise and not one but two unwieldy terms—paraskavedekatriaphobia and friggatriskaidekaphobia—that describe fear of this supposedly unlucky day.

Just like walking under a ladder, crossing paths with a black cat or breaking a mirror, many people hold fast to the belief that Friday the 13th brings bad luck. Though it’s uncertain exactly when this particular tradition began, negative superstitions have swirled around the number 13 for centuries.

If you haven't already earned your CITO 2022 Season 1 souvenir, this would be a great day to earn it. Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community.  Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-freindly spaces.  In that time, there have been more than 536,000 logged attendances at more than 29,000 events where geocachers helped improve the outdoors.  Stop on by and pick up some trash in the area. Every time we CITO we work to create a better world.
