Volgens de legende zou de wrede reus Druoon Antigoon van iedere schipper die op de Schelde passeerde een hoge tol eisen . Indien men weigerde of niet in staat was om deze tol te betalen , werd door de reus genadeloos de rechter hand afgehakt en in de Schelde geworpen . Tot op de dag dat de Romein Silvius Brabo met zijn schip voorbij zeilde . Brabo weigerde om aan de onrechtvaardig hoge eis van de reus te voldoen en trok vervolgens moedig ten strijde . In dit gevecht werd de reus gedood , waarna Brabo de hand van Antigoon afhakte en deze in de Schelde wierp .Ter herinnering aan dit “handwerpen” werd de nederzetting die ontstond op de oever naast de Schelde , Antwerpen genoemd en werd de hand het symbool van de stad .
Met deze Virtual nemen we jullie mee langsheen enkele plekjes die met de legende gelinkt zijn . Je kan deze Virtual perfect combineren met de gelijknamige Adventure Labs . Om deze Virtual tot een goed einde te brengen , zal je de 5 punten moeten bezoeken en daar de bijhorende opdracht uitvoeren . Op WP1 , 4 en 5 moet er een foto genomen worden , bij WP2 en 3 moet je een woord of stukje tekst zoeken . De foto’s plaats je bij je log , de antwoorden stuur je door via het berichtencentrum of via mail .
Logs die niet aan de eisen voldoen zullen verwijderd worden !
Legend has it that the cruel giant Druoon Antigoon demanded a high toll from any skipper passing on the Schelde . If people refused or were unable to pay this toll , the giant would mercilessly cut off their right hand and throw it into the Schelde . Until the day the Roman Silvius Brabo sailed by with his ship . Brabo refused to comply with the giant's unjust demand and then bravely went into battle . In this battle the giant was killed , after which Brabo cut off Antigoon's hand and threw it into the Schelde .In memory of this "hand throwing" , the settlement that arose on the bank next to the Schelde was called Antwerp and the hand became the symbol of the city .
With this Virtual we take you along some places that are linked to the legend . You can perfectly combine this Virtual with the Adventure Labs of the same name . To complete this Virtual , you have to visit the 5 points and complete the corresponding tasks . At WP1 , 4 and 5 you have to take a picture , at WP2 and 3 you have to find a word or a piece of text . Ad the photos to your log and send the answers via the message centre or via e-mail .
