Puxando a barca
Marcos da Barca de Odemira:
São os antigos marcos onde se seguravam os cabos que eram usados na travessia da Barca de Odemira.
A Barca de Odemira foi o meio de passagem do Rio Mira na vila de Odemira desde o séc. XVI até ao final do séc. XIX. Pertencente à instituição da Albergaria da Barca foi um legado pio, possivelmente de uma viúva abastada, inscrevendo-se no contexto religioso medieval.
Era comum nesses tempos legar em testamento verbas para solucionar problemas do dia-a-dia das populações. Em troca, pretendiam os beneméritos a colaboração dos vivos para a salvação das suas almas. Daí, por vezes, como neste caso, o pagamento da travessia traduzir-se em orações por alma dos instituidores.
A Barca consistia num estrado, com a forma de um alqueire, que funcionava através de um sistema de cabos. Um grosso cabo de linho atravessava o rio, fixo a ambos os marcos. A ele estava presa a Barca para que não fosse arrastada na corrente.
A deslocação era feita através de outros dois cabos presos que se puxavam, quer da barca quer da margem, imprimindo assim movimento à Barca no sentido pretendido. Os fixadores dos cabos são o que hoje em dia permanece visível na paisagem. Eles foram inicialmente simples toros de madeira cravados no solo.
Não se sabendo exactamente a data da construção em alvenaria, há contudo a informação de que no séc. XVIII se comprou material para a reconstrução do marco da margem esquerda que tinha sido derrubado.
Esta cache têm o propósito de fazer a conhecer o percurso beira rio começando ao sair do estacionamento, passando todo o passadiço de madeira até chegar a cache no marco da barca, criando assim um belo passeio observando as vistas e ao acabar conhecendo o método antigo de passagem do rio.

OBS: O ponto final ao fim da tarde é frequentado pela fauna jovem, pede-se discrição ao retirar a cache e colocar a mesma.
No final de utilizar a cache pede-se que coloque a camuflagem como estava, para a mesma ficar escondida. :)

These are the old landmarks where the cables used to cross the Barca de Odemira were held.
The Barca de Odemira was the means of crossing the River Mira in the village of Odemira since the 19th century. XVI until the end of the century. XIX. Belonging to the institution of Albergaria da Barca was a pious legacy, possibly from a wealthy widow, inscribed in the medieval religious context.
It was common in those times to bequeath funds in a will to solve the day-to-day problems of the populations. In exchange, the benefactors wanted the collaboration of the living for the salvation of their souls. Hence, sometimes, as in this case, the payment for the crossing translates into prayers for the souls of the founders.
The Barca consisted of a platform, in the shape of a bushel, which worked through a system of cables. A thick linen cable spanned the river, fixed to both landmarks. The boat was attached to him so that it would not be dragged in the current.
The displacement was done through two other attached cables that were pulled, either from the boat or from the shore, thus giving the boat movement in the intended direction. Cable fasteners are what remains visible in the landscape today. They were initially simple logs of wood stuck in the ground.
The exact date of construction in masonry is not known, however there is information that in the 19th century. In the 18th century, material was purchased for the reconstruction of the left bank landmark that had been demolished.
This cache has the purpose of making the riverside route known, starting when leaving the parking lot, passing the entire wooden walkway until reaching the cache at the boat's landmark, thus creating a beautiful walk observing the views and ending up knowing the old method of river crossing.

NOTE: The end point at the end of the afternoon is frequented by young fauna, discretion is requested when removing the cache and placing it.
