About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. This station is on the original Darlington to Stockton Railway line of 1825, though back then of course there was no airport !
The station almost qualifies for being part of the REALLY SideTracked series, owing to the fact that at present, only one train a week, stops there, at passenger request. In 2012/13 and 2013/2014 it was the least used station in the country, with only 8 passengers all year, though 2019/2020 has seen this number now reach 338. The footbridge over the line has now been condemned. In 2024 there is going to be some major funding and redevelopment of the station, I heard it's going to move from it's current spot a couple of hundred yards nearer to Oak Tree.
