Winteranfang - Vor der Haustür!
In der Meteorologie wird der Beginn des (Nord-)Winters am 1. Dezember angesetzt. Er umfasst somit die Monate Dezember, Januar und Februar.
Phänologisch kann der Winterbeginn vom astronomischen erheblich abweichen und wird neben der Land-Meer-Verteilung (maritimes vs. kontinentales Klima) oft durch den Beginn einer dauerhaften Schneedecke markiert. Die Zu- oder Abnahme von Gletschern hängt aber weniger von der winterlichen Schneelage als vom ersten Neuschnee im Herbst ab, der die Ablation hemmt.
In den Alpen ist das Fest „Darstellung des Herrn“ (volkstümlich „Mariä Lichtmess“) am 2. Februar ein statistischer „Lostag“ für das Wetter des Spätwinters. Bekannt ist der Spruch „Wenn’s zu Lichtmess stürmt und schneit, ist das Frühjahr nimmer weit“. Mit gleicher Bedeutung, nur andersherum formuliert, existiert auch die Bauernregel: „Sonnt der Dachs sich in der Lichtmesswoch’, bleibt er noch 4 Wochen in sei’m Loch!“

Beginning of winter - on the doorstep!
In meteorology, the beginning of (northern) winter is set on December 1st. It thus includes the months of December, January and February.
Phenologically, the beginning of winter can differ considerably from the astronomical one and, in addition to the land-sea distribution (maritime vs. continental climate), is often marked by the beginning of a permanent snow cover. The increase or decrease of glaciers depends less on the winter snow conditions than on the first fresh snow in autumn, which inhibits ablation.
In the Alps, the festival “Presentation of the Lord” (popularly “Mariä Lichtmess”) on February 2nd is a statistical “Lost Day” for the weather in late winter. The saying "When it storms and snows at Candlemas, spring is never far" is well known. With the same meaning, but formulated the other way around, there is also the farmer's rule: "If the badger sundays in the week of candlesticks, he stays in his hole for another 4 weeks!"
Approximately, the months of December, January and February are assigned to winter in the northern hemisphere and June, July and August in the southern hemisphere. The “polar night” prevails on the geographical poles for six months; near the polar circles it lasts from a few days to weeks.
Genähert teilt man dem Winter auf der Nordhalbkugel die Monate Dezember, Januar und Februar zu und in der Südhemisphäre den Juni, Juli und August. An den geografischen Polen herrscht ein halbes Jahr die „Polarnacht“; nahe den Polarkreisen dauert sie einige Tage bis Wochen.
Aus gegebenem Anlass möchte ich hier noch besonders auf die bestehende Coronaschutzverordnung des Landes NRW hinweisen: Bitte haltet mindestens 1,5m Abstand zu anderen Teilnehmern und im Zweifel sollte ein Mund-Nasenschutz getragen werden. Von einer Gruppenbildung am "Logbuch" muss abgesehen werden.
TBs und Coins dürfen selbstverständlich auch untereinander getauscht werden, eine Tauschbox wird es allerdings nicht geben. Alle Teilnehmer werden gebeten vorsorglich einen Punkt der 3G-Regelung (geimpft, genesen, getestet) zu erfüllen!
