Geocache Description:

An almost REALLY SideTracked cache.

Bordesley Station has the title of Least Used Station in the West Midlands, serving only 120 passengers annually.

About Bordesley Station

Bordesley Station was opened in 1855 by the Great Western Railway on their main line from London Paddington to Birkenhead. It was originally a two platform station, but was rebuilt as a four platform station with two island platforms when the line was upgraded to four tracks during 1915.

The station once had extensive cattle sidings adjacent to and on the viaduct. This viaduct was left incomplete and never carried trains, you can see it on Google maps satellite view and you can see the end of it at Montague Street. There are a couple of reference waypoints if you're interested in seeing them.

In the 1930s, eleven or twelve staff were employed at the station, however the loss of traffic in the 1960s saw the station downgraded to provide minimal facilities and services, and one island platform was taken out of use. The station is now unstaffed with no ticket facilities.

Since 2007, there is a single Birmingham-bound stopping service a week on a Saturday, making this a 'ghost station'. There are occasional additional services providing football fans access to Birmingham City's St Andrews football ground.

The Cache

The cache isn't at the posted co-ordinates but is a short walk away. Find the information to work out the final co-ordinates. The information is accessible at all times, so you don't need to go into the station (although if the gate is open I would recommend checking out the ghost station).

The number of arches to the left of the entrance gate = a
The number of arches to the right of the entrance gate = b
The bridge number = DCL/22c
The number of stairways up to the platforms = d

The final co-ordinates are:
N52 28. (b-d) (b+d) c
W1 52. (a+d) (a-a) (a+b)
