Come out to the Gahagan Nature Preserve and discover the treasure hunting game of geocaching! You will learn the basics of how to get started finding geocaches, the different geocache types and sizes, trackables, and how to log your finds.
There will be a short presentation on the basics before heading out on the trails.
There are several geocaches to be found at Gahagan. For anyone that wants to, we will walk the trails and find a few of the caches together to try out what you've learned. It would be helpful to be prepared for this hands-on tutorial by creating a geocaching account at geocaching.com and downloading a geocaching app on your cell phone prior to arrival, but not necessary.
This geocaching 101 is part of the Gahagan Nature Preserve’s annual Open House, which runs from 1 pm to 3 pm. The presentation prior to the 101 will be on the Andromeda Galaxy and start at 1:30 pm. Feel free to show up early to mingle and learn about the stars.
