The Laurie Event is designed to honor legendary cacher Half-Canadian and Scooter the Wonder Dog, AKA Wizard of Ooze (as a reviewer), also AKA funbeach, AKA the creator of Cache, Dash, Splash. Laurie found thousands of caches, and more importantly she hid hundreds of creative and interesting caches for the geo-community. Her events drew hundreds of people. She held events in Canada and in the US and loved devising fun and funny ways to lure cachers into the game. She thought out of the box, and found joy in bringing all kinds of people together to enjoy the outdoors, and to appreciate the rich history and beauty of the areas she lived in and loved.
The new caches you may find today are in no way as creative or as quirky as caches that Laurie would have hidden, but they represent the many events she held. If you ever attended any (or all) of them, you know she went all out to make the day, or the weekend, an absolute blast! I would like this event to be a celebration of all those years of Laurie's creativity and generosity. She loved this game, and more importantly, the community that she built and was a part of— her community of friends from far and wide who also love this game.

This event which begins about 1:30 will include a short ceremony to remember Laurie's life and time to share stories and laugh. We will wrap up around 3:30pm. There will be goodie bags with fun path tags and other swag that Laurie collected over the years.
Best of all there will be a special trackable coin available for each participant (100 coins available) designed to honor Half-Canadian and Scooter the Wonder Dog.
There will be a taco bar lunch and beverages to enjoy, and birthday cake to top off the celebration. (Laurie loved having events coincide with her birthday, that made it a double celebration for her!)
