Le Château de Barbentane, séparé d'Avignon par la Durance, est situé sur la commune de Barbentane, dans le département des Bouches-du-Rhône (13). Surnommé le « Petit Trianon de la Provence » ou « le plus italien des châteaux provençaux de la Renaissance », il représente la transition des édifices défensifs vers ceux d'apparat. Bâti à partir de 1674 par l'architecte avignonnais Louis-François de la VALFENIERE, il fut remodelé par Paul-François MIGNARD en 1741 puis l'intérieur embelli par Joseph-Pierre BALTHAZAR de PUGET de BARBENTANE - ambassadeur de Louis XV en Toscane. Il fut sauvegardé pendant la Révolution par le ralliement du Marquis de Barbentane à la République, et marqua l'origine du village. Détenu par un propriétaire privé - la Marquise de Barbentane -, il n'est plus possible de le visiter depuis 2014. Le château et son parc ainsi que les bâtiments de la basse-cour et les sculptures et décors du parc ont été classés monument historique par arrêté du 9 septembre 1949. Le parc du Château est recensé, en 2003, à l'Inventaire général du patrimoine culturel. Son style très marqué par le style florentin lui vaut son surnom de « Petit Trianon de la Provence ».

Held by a private owner - the Marquise de Barbentane -, it is no longer possible to visit it since 2014. The castle and its park as well as the buildings of the farmyard and the sculptures and decorations of the park were classified as historical monuments by order of September 9, 1949. The park of the castle is listed in 2003 in the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage. Its style, very much influenced by the Florentine style, has earned it the nickname of "Petit Trianon de la Provence".
