Geocache Description:

Be sure to mark a waypoint before you walk into the woods here, it is easy to get lost! Also, it can be a fairly rough hike, depending on the season.

In the Summer, you’ll find some dense foliage;

Spring, mud and muck;

Fall, rutting bucks and hunters with guns (please avoid this cache in November);

Winter, deep snow and cold.

This is the first cache stashed in the state of MN! You'll have to trek through a good bit of woods (public land) and down an old deer trail (private land). The land owners (myself included) are all aware that cache seekers will be afoot and there's no problem whatsoever... as long as you don't go through there during deer season (month of November). Please be respectful of this as there are many hunters in the area.

Despite many pleas, warning, and signs posted in the area, three cachers recently stomped through the grounds in the middle of November!  If this happens again, we will have to close it down!  PLEASE DO NOT seek this cache in November!

Please log your name in the book and treasure the contents of the stash! There is a complete explanation of why we called this "Alvin's Phone Line" contained in the cache. Its a nice story and the trip in to find the cache is well worth your time.

UPDATE: Unless a frightened Hippie has disposed of it to "save the earth," there should be one of Alvin's last bullets in the cache. Out of respect for Alvin (and not for the Hippie), we ask that you leave it there. It is certainly not dangerous, it will not spontaneously "blow up" (unless it gets up to 500 degrees next summer) and it won't hurt anyone unless they decide to bang on it with a hammer (please don't do this).

UPDATE: I can't stress this enough, please DO NOT attempt to find this cache in November. It is hunting season. There are lots of hunters in that area with very powerful guns, and stomping around in the woods without any blaze orange clothing on is a great way to be mistaken for a deer. Besides, we, (the land/cache owners) are usually up there hunting in November and we don't wish to spook the woods any more than we have to. We respectfully ask that you save your enthusiasm for December or anytime prior to November!

UPDATE: It came to our attention on 5/20/2012 that someone took the explanation/story out of the cache, and apparently took it home with them. *sigh* Do I really need to mention that the story should stay WITH the cache so that other visitors can learn of the significance of the location? If you've logged a visit here, please email me (the cache owner) and I'll be happy to pass along the story. It has since been replaced. Please; leave the story (and Alvin's picture) at the cache site, in their zip-top bags! Also, it would appear that Alvin's bullet is missing. Again. We may not have another one, I'll need to check Alvin's old stash box at the cabin. Please don't take the bullet, if you have an issue with it or you would like to express your concern, please contact the owner of the cache. Thanks!

UPDATE: We have strung a cable across the general "yard" area to keep out "casually curious" trespassers. There is plenty of room to park on just outside of the cable and, as usual, if you're a geo-cacher, feel free to hop over the cable and hunt away!

UPDATE: Alvin's chair (you'll know it when you see it) has become very brittle, after spending many decades outside in the weather. As tempting as it might be to have a seat and take a selfie, PLEASE, in the interest of historical preservation, do NOT sit in the chair! You don't want to be the one to break it!!

One last thing, BE CAREFUL and watch your footing! If you trip and fall or poke yourself in the eye with a stick, you are liable for your own injuries!
