This is just one of the many CITO events to be be held across the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands as part of the CITO 2021, Season 2, ( Wednesday, September 1 through Tuesday, November 30, 2021), so you will be able to earn a CITO 2021 Season 2 souvenir by attending.
Fort Cumberland, Eastney, Portsmouth
Sunday 12th September 2021 {10.00am to 11.30am}
Following the success of several previous CITO events in Portsmouth, the Countryside Service of Portsmouth City Council have kindly agreed to allow geocachers to help clear litter from a stretch of the coastal heathland near to Fort Cumberland, Eastney, Portsmouth as well as undertake some vegetation management. Please arrive shortly before 10am on SUNDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2021 so that a health & safety briefing can be given as well as litter pickers, tools and bags given out. We will be aiming for completion of the CITO by 11.30am. You may wish to bring food and drink although there are facilities in the general area. Parking is available at the co-ordinates but you can also access the location by foot or bike. There are a number of geocaches in the area that you may also want to attempt before or after the CITO. Enjoy the day and help improve the environment.
PLEASE NOTE: To comply with the Council's Covid precautions, only thin plastic disposable gloives will be provided. If you want to bring your own gardening or thicker gloves please do. Bags and litter pickers will be available on the day and litter pickers will be disinfected before and after use.
