Historical Information:

Blowing bubbles can be fascinating for any age group. The exact time at which humans mixed soap liquid specifically for playing purposes cannot be dated exactly; however, the phenomenon can be traced back centuries by means of descriptions in literature, game books and collections, and above all, by means of pictorial material. The earliest paintings of children playing with bubbles appear in 17th century artwork. Bubble blowers are among the oldest and most popular children’s toy. It is ideal when you think about it… a toy that fit even the tightest of budgets. One could simply twist some wire in a circle and use soap for blowing bubbles.  Although adults and children have been playing with soap bubbles for a very long time, it was only a few decades ago that they established themselves as “real” children’s toys, so to speak. It was in the 1940s a true enthusiasm for the activity erupted A Chicago cleaning-supplies company named Chemtoy began bottling its own bubble solution, popularizing the pastime. During the 1960s, bubbles became a symbol of peace and harmony with hippies and flower children further popularizing the activity of bubble blowing.  In the 1970's, 80's and 90's, several bubble making companies came into being, increasing world-wide sales of bottles of bubble solution to more than 200 million a year. Today, bubble solution is the best-selling toy in the world!
