The Series

Do you love mystery caches?  Do you love D/T (Difficulty/Terrain) ratings?  if so, we have a GREAT series for you!!!

The Jackson County Agritourism Geo-Trail 81 series (JCAT-81) has been placed for YOU! We do have to fess up that the series isn’t actually in Jackson County, but it’s a stone’s throw away and an awesome set of caches.  If you complete all 81, you will have completed an entire D/T grid. Total fizzy awesomeness!

The majority of the caches are hidden in Sandy Creek Park.  There is an entrance fee of $2 per person to enter.  Current park hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Mondays. (Note: Hours can change-- please check with the park before making your trip plans)

The caches are hidden in a variety of containers and styles.  The puzzles will help build your puzzle-solving skills.  Be on the lookout for some JCAT-81 Puzzle-Solving events where we will help you solve some of the tougher ones.

This series is a collaborative effort of “The Puzzle Posse”!  The Puzzle Posse consists of Bragger407, GeoMonkeyTiger!, LaFavorite Cacher, and poeanne.

The Cache

This cache is rated a 2.0/2.5.  The puzzle will require a bit of work, but you'll get it quickly!  The hide will require a bit of a hike.  The final is an ammo can and should be an easy spot once in range!

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!

The harvest was over, the animals had held their celebration, and they looked forward to a little time off in the winter. The harvest had been the best ever, and the animals had received some hefty cash bonuses. A few of them were planning pretty exotic vacations.

Carlotta the Cow said, “I’m taking my very first airplane trip. My cousin is a travel agent in North Carolina, so she was able to get me some good deals. Unfortunately, the low prices mean I don't often take the most direct routes in my travels.

My first stop is Tichit, Mauritania, where it is unlikely my vacation will be spoiled by rain. After that I am headed to Merty Merty, Australia, where their summer will just be getting started. Isn’t that crazy? After that I’m headed for Fortaleza, Caera, in Brazil, to see their beautiful beaches. Then I will visit Ziro, in Arunachal Pradesh, but I will leave to come home before the monsoon season begins. After that it’s on to Onepusu in the Solomon Islands. I have to return to the Midwest to attend my niece’s wedding in Antlers, Oklahoma before I scoot up to Taylor, Alaska. I am hoping to get there before the really cold weather sets in. It will be a relief to go from there to Sun City, South Africa. I am most excited about my last two stops, Einasleigh in Queensland, Australia, and then to Groote Eylandt, up in the Northern Territory of Australia.”

Daniel the Donkey said he had not done any traveling since he arrived on the farm from somewhere in West Virginia.

“I’ll be starting my vacation in Watertown, South Dakota, where I am looking forward to seeing some artwork by Terry Redlin. From there I will make my way to Tehran, Iran, where I hope to visit the National Jewelry Museum. It is a long trip back to Needles, California for a vet appointment, but I need to see a specialist about my sore hoof. After that appointment, I will continue my vacation in San Vito, Costa Rica, for some whitewater rafting. Next I will visit Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, to see some impressive archaeological sites. Singleton in New South Wales, Australia, is my next stop, to see one of the world’s largest sundials. Don’t you all just love sundials? After that visit I will jet off to Dios in Papua New Guinea for some much-needed rest. My next stop will be Fair Isle, Scotland, for some birdwatching. My final destination will be Venetie, Alaska, before I return to the farm and continue my hard work.”

There was a long silence in the barn after these two finished describing their upcoming trips.

“I’m going to visit my aunt and uncle,” one of the sheep said … sheepishly. “They live in Alabama."
