The memorial was unveiled on 16 July 1994 and honours the men of two planes that crashed very close to the village during WWII. Short Stirling EH940 came down on 21 June 1944 killing all 5 crew. It was flying from RAF Winthorpe at the time. Lancaster LM292 came down on 8 August 1944 killing two of the crew. It was flying from RAF Elsham Wood at the time.
The memorial consists of a single propellor and reduction gear.
