Geocache Description:

17 July 2021, 09:00 - 13:00

The Benzie Conservation District will be hosting their annual Platte River Clean Sweep from 9:00am-1pm on Saturday, July 17th.

Volunteers will meet at Veteran's Memorial Park for registration, a free Benzie River Steward T-shirt, and morning snacks and beverages.

The Upper Platte is about 2 to 3 feet deep in most places. There are several quick turns and overhanging branches to navigate. A novice kayaker should expect to tip over at least once on this stretch of river but an intermediate kayaker will most likely make the whole stretch without getting wet. The “Put In” is at Veterans Park located on US 31 West of CR669/Maple City Highway and near the Fish Hatchery. The end point is at Deadstream Rd. just before the Platte River goes into Platte Lake.

Bring your own kayak if you have one. If you want to help but do not have a kayak contact me (in advance) and either the Conservation District or I will hook you up.
