A COSTA DA LAJINHA #POÇA DA RAINHA
A última cache deste trilho situa-se junto à entrada da Poça da Rainha. Esta parte particular da costa é diferente do resto desta costa porque na verdade é uma pequena fajã. Uma fajã é um pedaço de terra logo acima do nível do mar no sopé de uma falésia e geralmente é formado por pedaços de rocha que caem da falésia causados pela erosão ou formados por um fluxo de lava. Os melhores exemplos podem ser vistos na ilha de São Jorge que é famosa por as suas fajãs. A que vemos aqui é uma fajã de lava. Durante o inverno as ondas tornam uma vista espetacular quando quebram nas rochas. No verão é um lugar perfeito para dar um mergulho no mar.

The last cache of this trail is situated near the entrance of Poça da Rainha (The Queen´s Well) This particular part of the coast is different from the rest of this coast because in fact it is a small “fajã”. A fajã is a piece of land just above sea level at the foot of a cliff and is usually formed by pieces of rock falling down from the cliff caused by erosion or formed by a lava flow. The best examples can be seen on the island of São Jorge which is famous for this fajã´s. The one we see here is a lava fajã. During wintertime the waves make it a spectacular view when they break upon the rocks. In summertime it is a perfect place to take a swim in the ocean
