Jardin de Nazareth
Limoges bénéficie d’une qualité de vie reconnue, notamment grâce à ses nombreux parcs et jardins aménagés.
La ville détient en effet le record de France de surface d’espaces verts par habitant (50m2). En 30 ans, près de 200 hectares de parcs et terrains de jeux ont ainsi vu le jour. Les vallées de l’Aurence, de l’Auzette ou de la Vienne constituent de superbes coulées vertes. La nature est facile d’accès : quelque 40 sentiers de randonnée balisés sont situés à moins de 10 km de Limoges.
Le jardin de Nazareth - Le projet
Cette parcelle appartenait à l’ancienne congrégation des Sœurs « Bleu de Castres » où un projet immobilier est en construction.
"Notre but est de faire entrer la campagne dans la ville" déclarent les initiateurs du projet. La municipalité a donc sauté sur l’occasion de récupérer cet espace au cœur d’un quartier résidentiel, à deux pas du centre-ville, pour en faire "un jardin qui sera le premier jardin écologique de Limoges". Construit dans l’esprit du label Végétal Local, c’est un modèle de jardin inédit, qui s’enrichira au fur et à mesure de son évolution, un jardin en mouvement. Un espace accueillera des hôtels à insectes et favorisera la biodiversité. Une rampe d’accès en métal et bois permet son accès aux personnes à mobilité réduite.
Un mur d’enceinte d’une hauteur de 2,50 m et des grilles protégeaient ce terrain de 4 500 m2. Une végétation naturelle et abondante s’est installée spontanément dans le jardin laissé à l’abandon depuis trois ans. Le potentiel écologique de cet espace est un atout qui va définir le futur jardin public. Dans l’objectif du développement durable, le jardin accueillera une végétation uniquement régionale. Une partie du verger a été conservée et d'autres arbres fruitiers seront plantés.
Les grilles initiales ont été remplacées et des percées ont été réalisées dans le mur d'enceinte pour ouvrir le jardin sur l'extérieur. Toutes les pierres ont été réemployées pour la réalisation de l'escalier rue de Nazareth.

Un jardin évolutif - Votre mission (optionnelle)
Un cheminement perméabilisé et herbé rejoindra un axe central qui favorisera la rencontre et le partage social et sera délimité par des éléments de récupération (rochers, pavés, ...). Cet espace pourra évoluer comme un jardin en mouvement où l’on favorisera une nature locale et spontanée. Il sera ouvert en permanence, mais sans éclairage public à l’intérieur afin de respecter la problématique de la pollution lumineuse en ville. Des massifs ornementaux composés de plantes vivaces avec une palette végétale locale seront installés le long du mur côté rue de Nazareth. Des haies seront recomposées avec des essences bocagères. À terme, le jardin sera accessible aux personnes souffrant d’un handicap.
Une partie seulement du jardin est aménagé à la date de publication de cette cache. Votre mission consistera (aucune obligation), si vous le souhaitez, à illustrer votre log d'une ou plusieurs photos montrant l'évolution de ce jardin au fil des années.
Pourquoi "VER(T)" ?
Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.

In 30 years, about 200 hectares of parks and playing fields were so fitted out. The valleys of Aurence, Auzette or Vienne constitute magnificent green alleys. The nature is easily accessible : about 40 marked out hiking trails are situated unless 10 km from Limoges.
The Garden of Nazareth - The Project
This plot belonged to the former congregation of the Sisters «Bleu de Castres» where a real estate project is under construction.
"Our goal is to bring the countryside into the city" say the project’s initiators. The municipality therefore jumped at the opportunity to reclaim this space in the heart of a residential area, close to the city center to make it "a garden that will be the first ecological garden in Limoges". Built in the spirit of the Végétal Local label, it is an original garden model, which will be enriched as it evolves, a garden in motion. A space will host insect hotels and promote biodiversity. A metal and wood access ramp allows access to people with reduced mobility.
A 2.50 m high perimeter wall and railings protected this 4,500 m2 plot. Natural and abundant vegetation has settled spontaneously in the abandoned garden for three years. The ecological potential of this space is an asset that will define the future public garden. In the objective of sustainable development, the garden will welcome only regional vegetation. Part of the orchard has been kept and other fruit trees will be planted.
The initial grids were replaced and apertures were made in the wall to open the garden to the outside. All the stones were reused for the realization of the staircase on Rue de Nazareth.
A scalable garden - Your mission (optional)
A permeated and grassy path will join a central axis that will promote meeting and social sharing and will be delimited by elements of recovery (rocks, paving stones, ...). This space will be able to evolve as a moving garden where we will promote a local and spontaneous nature. It will be open permanently, but without public lighting inside to respect the problem of light pollution in the city. Ornamental massifs composed of perennial plants with a local plant palette will be installed along the street wall. Hedges will be recomposed with tree species. Eventually, the garden will be accessible to people with disabilities.
Only part of the garden is set up on the date of publication of this cache. Your mission will consist (no obligation), if you wish, to illustrate your log with one or more pictures showing the evolution of this garden over the years.
Why "VER(T)"?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
