This Earthcache will take geocachers to visit the Church of Salvador de Frevença, flanking the entrance to the churchyard are two rectangular pillars surmounted by granite balls and in one of those you can observe a Xenolite that makes it look like an eye. |

Um xenólito (do grego para pedra estranha) é um fragmento de rocha que é envolvido por uma rocha maior durante o desenvolvimento e endurecimento desta última. Em geologia este termo é aplicado quase exclusivamente na descrição de inclusões em rochas ígneas durante a colocação e erupção do magma. Os xenólitos podem ser arrastados ao longo da orla de uma câmara magmática, arrancados das paredes de um tubo de lava ou por diatremas explosivos ou arrastados ao longo da base de um fluxo de lava na superfície terrestre.
Apesar de ser aplicado sobretudo a rochas ígneas, uma interpretação mais abrangente pode incluir também fragmentos de rocha incluídos em rochas sedimentares. Por vezes são encontrados em meteoritos.
De forma a ser considerado um verdadeiro xenólito, a rocha incluída tem de ser diferente da rocha encaixante; um fragmento incluído de rocha similar à encaixante denomina-se autólito.

A xenolith ("foreign rock") is a rock fragment that becomes enveloped in a larger rock during the latter's development and solidification. In geology, the term xenolith is almost exclusively used to describe inclusions in igneous rock during magma emplacement and eruption. Xenoliths may be engulfed along the margins of a magma chamber, torn loose from the walls of an erupting lava conduit or explosive diatreme or picked up along the base of a flowing body of lava on the Earth's surface.
Although the term xenolith is most commonly associated with igneous inclusions, a broad definition could include rock fragments which have become encased in sedimentary rock. Xenoliths have been found in some meteorites.
To be considered a true xenolith, the included rock must be identifiably different from the rock in which it is enveloped; an included rock of similar type is called an autolith or a cognate inclusion.

1 - Estando tu de frente para a igreja em qual das bolas de granito é possível observar o xenólito?
2 - Qual o tamanho do xenólito no seu ponto mais largo?
3 - O xenólito é mais claro ou mais escuro que a rocha envolvente?
- Terá de tirar uma foto onde apareça a fachada da igreja e o seu nick escrito num papel e juntar ao seu registro. Na foto não podem aparecer as bolas de granito, apenas a fachada da igreja e o seu nick escrito num papel.
Todos os registros têm de ter a respectiva foto. Registros sem foto não são validos.

1 - While you are facing the church in which of the granite balls is it possible to observe the xenolith?
2 - How big is xenolith at its widest point?
3 - Is xenolith lighter or darker than the surrounding rock?
- You must take a photo showing the Church and your nickname written on paper and add it to your record. The granite balls cannot be shown in the photo, only the Church and your nickname written on paper.
All records must have the respective photo. Records without photos are not valid.
