Shelton War Memorial stands in the grounds of St Mary's church and contains just a single name who did not return to the village after leaving for WWI. What I like about this memorial is it would have been easy for the village to not have a memorial and just leave a normal grave marker but they felt Cpl Johnson deserved the recognition and rightly so.
